Bangin' It Up

I hope everyone had a lovely break...mine was pretty good. I found a lot of cool things that I forgot I had (i.e. a black sequin dress from seventh grade, a tweed blazer, etc.), and I played A LOT of the Sims 2 (one of my top guilty pleasures). Unfortunately, I left my retainer at home, so I must let my gap grow out while I wait for my mom to mail it to me. I'm sure my teeth will be an absolute wreck by the time it gets here.

Yes, I'm 20 and I'm totally dependent on my stupid nasty retainer. Which, by the way, has a saxophone on it (a relic of my band nerd days).

ANYHOW. I've been thinking about getting big, thick bangs for a while now, but I'm still not really sure.

This is me over the weekend at my friend's Black Friday party. So, that's what I look like without a ton of make up. If you didn't know.

And that's what I want. Big ass fat bangs. Granted, I need to dye my hair a bit darker as it's faded a lot since the last dye. So, what do you think? Do you see a fringe in my future? Or should I continue to rock the forehead?

I've also decided to post a tribute to the most bangin' bangs:

Jane Asher, rocking the red bang (as well as a paper dress).

Anna Karina

François Hardy

Patti Boyd

The queen of the fringe: Zooey Deschanel (obv.)

I just had to include this. It's funny because it's true.

More Zooey (I have a girl crush on her, who doesn't?)

Daisy Lowe. Weirdly, I think I need that jump suit. I'm not sure what I would do with it, but I feel that a long sleeve leopard dress/ jumpsuit is definitely in order.

So...if anyone has some advice on this subject, let me know!

I should probably prepare for my forensic anthropology exam now...

The Perfect Song

I pretty much had a music orgasm the first time I heard this song...and every time after. Could this song BE any more perfect?! Minor key, country influence, floor stomping, hand claps, vocal harmonies...and if I wasn't in love with it enough already, THERE'S A TAP DANCING SOLO?! Hells yes! This song is exactly the music I would make if I had that sort of talent. I LOVE YOU CHESTER FRENCH.

One time one of the guys from Chester French emailed me while I was at work and I SHIT MY PANTS. So, boys, if you're reading this...I have a boyfriend but could you be my back ups? K thanks bye.

Party Jam!

I'm not really sure why, but lately, whenever my friends and I are ready to party, we put on this song:

And then it's time to get down! What a gem!

Fly Winter Kicks

So...although I'd love to look like a snow princess all day, all winter, I unfortunately live and go to school in Ohio. Therefore, I spend a lot of time walking, outdoors, in the cold, in the snow. I need shoes that can deal with this. And because I REFUSE to wear Uggs (everyone else's go-to winter shoe), I'm always on the hunt for alternatives.

Luckily, when I met the (possible) love of my life last year, I also discovered an amazing snow shoe alternative: Nike Dunks.

They are warm and waterproof, which is awesome. Unfortunately, they sort of force me to change my style because they will obviously look bizarre with tights and dresses. When I wear these (I have one pair, not the ones above, but aren't those tight?), I try to channel the Simmons girls, Vanessa and Angela.

They are so freaking adorable...I'm just really disappointed that I couldn't really find any pictures to demonstrate this style that I'm sort of imitating. Anyhow, they wear a lot of V-neck T-shirts, hoodies, high top shoes, leggings, skinny jeans, bright colors, etc., all while still looking cute and feminine. I admire this, because whenever I dress like that, I look like I'm going to go hang out with my fellow 13 year olds at the skate park. But whatever. I hope to post a picture of an example of this look soon so you'll know what I mean.

Hmmm...I just sort of realized that my boyfriend is a bit of style icon for me, and I kind of copy his look in the winter. He usually wears the same sort of thing every day, but it's very effortlessly cool. He wears a T-shirt and a zip up hoodie with straight leg Levis tucked into his high tops. I love this look on anyone, but especially on him. I like to pretend that he invented it, although I'm pretty sure that everyone at his high school dressed like that.

Okay, so, I'm rambling....I think I'll just go to bed and maybe edit this ridiculous post later. K thanks bye.

What I Wore...Yesterday

I have so much to update on, but I don't have very much time to do it. Oh well, I'll at least give you my outfit yesterday.

Unfortunately, by the time I got home from work, it was dark, and none of my roomates were around to take a picture of me. So I was on my own for this one. I've let that issue be an excuse too many times but NOT TODAY.

This outfit is a little snow princessy / ballerina leaving ballet class in the winter. You can't tell, but the sweater is a really pale pink color. I love it.

Detail on scarf. I love this thing. My Grandma gave this to me before she passed away. It was given to her by her sister who got it in her travels through Spain. It's more beautiful in person, my crappy ass camera doesn't do it justice! I mean, obviously. Look at the flash on that picture. It's completely ridonk.

So, everyone has these, right? The black flats from Target? My left bow is all messed up now, but these things have taken me far. I'm not really sure what I was wearing on my feet before I bought these.

SHIT. My coffee went down the wrong tube and I coughed up coffee all over the place! I hate when that happens. Well anyhow...

Wish this picture would have been better....these are just pretty earrings from Forever 21. They stretch out my earlobes, but I like them because they're a little 80's working girl without being too...plastic.

But they probably are plastic.

So in conclusion:
Dress: Forever 21, Sweater: Thrift store (originally Banana Republic), Tights: Target, Scarf: G-Ma, Earrings: Forever 21, Shoes: Heaven (actually Target)

I picked this up for lunch yesterday with my friend Kim. It's Pad Thai from Nida's Sushi in the North Market, and it's advertised as the best Pad Thai in Columbus. Well guess what? IT IS. It was absolutely scrumptious.

Have you ever thought the ATM ate your bank card when really you had already put it back in your wallet and you just forgot you did that? And there's a long line of people behind you waiting to use the ATM? And you freak out and make a big deal?

Ya, that's never happened to me either.

I made this on Sunday while my boyfriend watched football. It was actually his idea, can you believe that? He suggested that I make a Polyvore set out of my magazines and put it on the wall. So, he's my soul mate. It turned out pretty good!

Definitely cooler than a poster...plus less likely to fall down in the night and scare the shit out of me!

So, that's about all. I should, you know, get ready to go to class or something. I have another busy day, but maybe I'll get a chance to post later. I've got some new Polys that I'm VERY excited about.

Oh, P.S. have you heard about this? I'm pants-shittingly excited! I hope this is as cool as I imagine...do you think it will be?

I'm a deadbeat

Follow my blog with bloglovin

But what I really need to do is this...

Oh, college. Why are you so hard on me?

New Polyvore

I don't know why, but I feel like I've been able to make better sets on Polyvore recently. Maybe it's because of the massive quantities of fashion blogs I imbibe every day. I'm going to the mall later, perhaps I'll find something new and wonderful!

Coal Miner's Daughter

Everyone loves a good biopic, but Coal Miner's Daughter is one of my favorite movies ever. Loretta Lynn is a total bad ass. She had her first baby when she was fourteen (and she was actually married) and was a grandmother by the time she was 29. But while popping out all these kids, she became a hugely popular country western star. (Being a country western star has always been one of my dreams. When I used to write "songs" in my younger days, they all sounded like Loretta Lynn songs...not that I actually listen to country.)

Anyhow, I just remembered how great the clothes are in this movie. I especially love the plaid flannel shirt, the polka dots, and that fantastic sequined dress. If you haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend that you Netflix it! It's quite wonderful.

I want

What, Forever 21? What's this? Wait, don't tell me. I know...

YES.

I think I will be pursuing this at my local F21 shortly... Let's all holler for Elizabeth Perkins's crazy 80's working girl wear in Big!

Inspiration: Snow Princess

Although I'm dreading the end of fall, I'm also looking for winter inspiration. I'm really into pretty things in general since watching Marie Antoinette and Northanger Abbey. I'm seeing pastels, feminine fabrics like lace and taffeta, and lots of pretty accessories. I'm sure this won't translate into my real wardrobe, but I can dream, right?
